The West Java city of Bandung is one of Indonesia’s most famous cafe cities. But its most oldest coffee roaster is still one of its most famous.

At Coffee Aroma they still roast coffee in the same way they have been doing it since the 1930s. Coffee roaster Widyapratama is a master at managing the wood-fired roasters, and blending beans from a treasure cave of coffee bags at the back of the factory. Every bag is weighed and packed by hand, for customers who line up outside the store.

It is a slow process to produce a coffee that so many citizens of Bandung enjoy. What is the secret to Coffee Aroma’s success? Mr Widya says you must roast coffee with love.
